The Holle House
Is situated in the heart of Germany, not far from the town of Eschwege, about 50 km east of Kassel and 50 Km south of Göttingen, in the village of Meinhard / Neuerode. It is open to practitioners of all contemplative traditions, for strict retreats or for meditative holidays. The house is beautiful, clean, modern and has a self contained garden. It is especially equipped for Werma Sadhana Practice.
Location
The Holle House is situated at the edge of an old oak and beech tree forest, and from the property you have a breathtaking view over rolling woodland hills towards the “Hoher Meissner”, a mountain that with its 780 meters dominates the landscape. Since ancient times this mountain was believed to be the home of the Earth Goddess “Frau Holle”, which is why we gave the house its name.
The vast woodland, which begins right at the retreat house, continues with a beautiful mix of rocks, meadows and heather. It belongs to the “green strip”, the 14000 Km long former border between East and West Europe and the area around the retreat house belongs now to one of the biggest protected nature reserves in Germany. Rare animals like the lynx, the European wild cat, the uhu owl and the black stork are still living on this land.
Infrastructure
The Holle House is the last house at the very edge of the small village of Neuerode. It is situated on a forest path that leads directly into the nature reserve and yet you can drive your car right up to the property. The house is at such a high elevation that you look over the village into the vast landscape.
The house is fully equipped for four people, with a kitchen and a bathroom, and even in the winter time it is comfortably warm. It is easy to reach by train and taxi or by car (see travel plan).
Foodshop
In the village centre, approx. a 5-10 minute walk, is a small EDEKA shop that can provide you with almost all the products you need. Its opening hours are: 7:30 to 12:00 am and 4:00 to 6:30 pm. An organic food shop and a supermarket with mainly organic products, are both approx. 5 Km away in the town of Eschwege.
Restaurant
At the other edge of the village, situated at the forest edge and with a beautiful view into the valley, is an amazing organic food restaurant called “Body & Soul”. Reservation
Please check in the calendar if your preferred days are still available and then make your reservations by sending an email with those preferred days to the Eschwege Institut: info@eschwege-institut.de. (Telefon +49 (0)5651 951360, +49 (0)172 6315620 ). Confirm by sending half of the total costs.
Prices: 33, - €/day with tax included, every extra person stays for half the price. A single cleaning fee (16, - €) will be charged for the whole stay.
